  • Understanding InfoSec

    What is InfoSec?

InfoSec , short for Information Security, is made up of multiple niches under the CyberSecurity umbrella, and is about securing information and systems from people who absolutely must not get access to them. Especially when you consider how much we rely on digital platforms for most things in our day to day lives.

Below is an explanation of how all the elements are connected to each other.

The client is most commonly a computer/laptop or any device with which you access resources and services through the internet.

The Internet is a huge interconnected network of servers which offer all sorts of different services and applications.

Servers provide services and applications created for specific tasks. One such example would be a web server and a cloud server. A web server allows you to view a website.

Networks are when multiple servers or computers are connected and communicate with each other . An example would be using your computer to visit a web server that shows a website such as Netflix which is then connected to a cloud server that hosts media such as movies.

Cloud refers to data centres which offer servers that are interconnect for use by companies or individuals.

Blue teams are responsible for ensuring the integrity of the internal security of companies and defending them against cyber attacks.

Red teams are responsible for simulating actual attacks on the company

Purple Teams are made up of both red and blue team members who work together to improve the security of the company.
